MSP Pie is operated by Left Leads Pty Ltd (ABN 27 653 931 107), trading as MSP Pie. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Left Leads Pty Ltd.
We're bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
Businesses requesting a quote. Your contact details and a description of what you need.
Providers. Business name, ABN, work email, and the details you add to your listing.
Directory listings. Business name, contact details, website, service areas, specialities and a description. Most of this comes from public sources rather than from the business itself. See "Where we get it from" below.
Reviews. The content of a review, and the reviewer's name and contact details. We publish the name given with a review, but never the reviewer's contact details. A reviewer can ask to be shown by first name and last initial instead.
Everyone. Basic technical data such as IP address and browser, collected automatically for security and fraud prevention, and analytics data about how the site is used.
If a quote request includes details about other people, such as a staff member or an existing supplier, we handle that information under this policy too. Please only include what's necessary.
We don't ask for sensitive information as defined in the Privacy Act, and you shouldn't include any in a quote request or review.
Where we get it from
Directly from you, when you fill in a form, create a listing, submit a review, or contact us.
From public sources. Our directory of Australian IT providers is built from our own research, including business websites and other publicly available information. Most listed businesses have never been contacted by us. Where a listing describes a sole trader, that information may also be personal information about an individual, and the correction and removal rights below apply to it.
Automatically, through your browser and our analytics tools when you use the site.
How we use it
To match quote requests to suitable providers, operate provider accounts, publish and maintain the directory, publish and moderate reviews, respond to you, keep the site secure, and meet our legal obligations.
We may send you emails about MSP Pie's own services. Every one has an unsubscribe link and we action unsubscribes promptly.
Matching is done by people
Quote requests are matched to providers by a person, not by an automated system. We don't make decisions about you using a computer program.
Some listing descriptions are drafted with the assistance of AI tools from publicly available information about the business. A person checks every description before it's published, and you can ask us to correct or remove one at any time.
Basis for sharing your details
Submitting a quote request is your consent for us to share it with the providers we match it to. We don't ask for consent a second time on the form: completing it is the consent.
Who we share it with
Matched providers. A buyer's contact details go only to the providers matched to that specific request. We introduce each request to up to three providers.
The public. Provider information is displayed as part of the directory, except fields marked private. An ABN is private by default.
Service providers who help us run MSP Pie. Website hosting and infrastructure, our database, form software, email delivery, analytics and advertising platforms, and our accountants and professional advisers. They can only use the information to provide their service to us.
Where the law requires it, or where we reasonably need to in order to protect our rights or someone's safety.
We don't sell personal information.
Overseas disclosure
Our primary hosting and database are located in Australia (Sydney).
Some of our service providers are located overseas or store data overseas, including in the United States. These currently include our website hosting and delivery platform, our form software, and our analytics and advertising platforms. If we add advertising or measurement tools from other platforms, they may also be located overseas.
Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
How we keep it
We hold information electronically on secure systems with access limited to people who need it. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
No transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we can't guarantee the security of information sent to us.
If a data breach occurs that's likely to result in serious harm, we'll assess it and notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
Access to your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you. Contact us at hello@msppie.com.
We'll need to be satisfied the information relates to you before we release it. We respond within 30 days. If we can't give you access, we'll tell you why.
Corrections and removal
If information about you or your business is wrong, ask us to correct or remove it at /contact (opens in a new tab), or through the correction link on the listing.
This applies to every listing, whether or not the business has an account with us, and whatever its structure. If you want a listing taken down entirely rather than corrected, we'll remove it. If we've used your business name, logo or trade mark and you want that stopped, tell us and we'll stop.
We respond within 30 days.
Withdrawing your enquiry
Withdraw a quote request at any time at /contact (opens in a new tab): choose "Withdraw my enquiry."
Once we receive it, we stop sharing your enquiry with any further providers and stop contacting you about it. A provider already introduced to you keeps the details already sent; contact them directly if you no longer want to proceed.
We keep the withdrawal on record rather than deleting it, so it can't be reopened by mistake.
Reviews
How reviews are published, moderated and replied to is set out in our reviews policy (opens in a new tab).
Retention
- Records tied to a billed transaction: 7 years, as required by tax and corporations law.
- A buyer enquiry that doesn't result in a billed lead: 2 years.
- Directory listings and reviews: kept while the directory operates, subject to the correction and removal rights above.
When we no longer need personal information and aren't required to keep it, we destroy it or de-identify it.
Complaints
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, tell us at hello@msppie.com. We'll investigate and respond within 30 days.
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992, or GPO Box 5218, Sydney NSW 2001.
Changes
We version this policy and publish the date at the top. If we make a change that materially affects how we handle your information, we'll tell account holders directly.
